Accessibility

Last Updated: October 5, 2026

Viveir is for everyone who wants to preserve a life story, and for the families who come to it later. Many of the people who use it are older, some are grieving, and some will use it on a phone with one hand. We want every one of them to be able to use it without help.

1. Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA across the Viveir app, the public memorial pages and this website. We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit. This page describes what we do today and what we know still needs work.

2. What we do now

  • Readable text and contrast. Body text and controls are sized for reading, and we check colour contrast for text against its background. We pair colour with a word or a label so that status does not depend on colour alone.
  • Works with a keyboard. Buttons, links, menus and form fields can be reached and used with a keyboard. Menus close with the Escape key, and we keep a visible outline on focused controls.
  • Labels for assistive technology. Form fields have labels, icon-only buttons have spoken names, and decorative icons are hidden from screen readers.
  • Large touch targets. Primary buttons and controls are at least 44 by 44 pixels, so they are easy to tap.
  • Phones and zoom. Pages are built to fit a phone screen without sideways scrolling, and you can zoom the page with your browser.
  • More than one way to share a memory. You can type, record audio or record video, so nobody has to rely on a single way of answering.
  • Text alongside speech. In interviews and conversations, everything spoken aloud is also shown as text, and read-aloud can be switched off.

3. What we know still needs work

  • Speaking your answers in an interview uses your browser's speech recognition, which works best in Chrome and Edge. In other browsers you can type or record instead.
  • Recordings you or your family upload have no automatic captions or transcripts yet.
  • Voice cloning needs you to read prompts aloud, so it is not available to people who cannot record their own voice.
  • Some older screens may still have smaller text or controls we have not reworked yet. If you find one, please tell us.

4. Tell us about a problem

If anything in Viveir is hard to use with your device, browser, screen reader or other assistive technology, email us at hello@viveir.com. Tell us the page and what happened if you can, but any description helps. We read every message, and we will work with you to get you what you need, including help by email while we fix the problem.

You can also write to us at Viveir, 82 County Rd, PMB #57, Mattapoisett, MA 02739.

5. Updates

We review this statement when we make significant changes to Viveir. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
